What are Dental Implants?

Made up of three individualized parts, the implant post, the abutment, and the restoration, dental implants replace the entire tooth. The implant posts, made of biocompatible titanium alloy, replicate the missing tooth root and allows the jaw bone to naturally integrate with and strengthen surrounding tissue. The abutment and prosthetic, a crown, bridge, or denture, restores the exposed portion of the tooth or teeth, finalizing the treatment.

Dental Implant Restorations in Scottsdale

Whether you’re missing one tooth or a full arch of teeth, Dr. Marjan Nejad and her team provide an array of implant restorations to fit your needs. Using aesthetic materials, our dental implant-supported restorations enhance the look and function of your smile.

Traditional treatment for missing teeth involves either a bridge or a denture. For patients who are missing one tooth, a dental bridge would be placed, which uses neighboring teeth as support for the fake tooth. With single-unit dental implants, we replace that one tooth without the alteration of adjacent healthy teeth. The implant is topped with a porcelain crown, allowing the newest addition to your smile to blend seamlessly.

An implant-supported bridge allows for one or more missing teeth to be replaced without the need for capping neighboring teeth with crowns. These fixed restorations are a stabilized alternative to a denture or a partial, allowing for comfortable, natural function.

Missing a Full Arch of Teeth

A denture is usually recommended for edentulous patients looking to restore their smile. However, dentures contribute to jaw depletion, as they don’t stimulate the integrity of bone. Implant-supported dentures allow your denture to be affixed to implant posts that properly support jawbone health.

Implant Dentistry in Scottsdale

Dr. Sroujieh and Dr. Nejad work together to develop a treatment plan that best fits your needs. During your implant consultation, we take in-depth images of your smile to ensure there is enough bone density to support the implant. Once we’ve established your choice of restoration, we schedule you for your placement surgery. We provide oral sedation to ensure your comfort during the procedure. As you wait for the implants to fully integrate and heal with your jawbone, we provide a temporary denture or other prosthetics so you can continue your day-to-day activities. Once fully healed, your smile is ready for final placement your restoration at our office and your treatment is complete.

Throughout the process, our Scottsdale implant dentists check in with you to ensure you’re healing properly and that you are comfortable. We welcome patients to ask us any questions about the treatment process. We do the most possible to put you at ease if you have any anxiousness about implant treatment.
